About Chef Katy

MAKING MEMORIES IN THE KITCHEN

I grew up as an Army brat with a family that loved to cook. That has inspired me from the beginning. We always had home cooked meals and birthday cakes. We made memories in the Kitchen. As I grew up, I watched cooking shows on PBS with my Dad, and I grew to love cooking even more. So much so, that I went on to culinary school.

After graduation, I got my first job with Christopher Elbow in Kansas City, making designer chocolates. Eight years later, I went to work for Spiaggia, a Michelin 3-Star Resturant in Chicago. I was fortunate to work with many great chefs, like Joe Flamm,

Rick Bayless and Jacob Bickelhaupt

I came back to Overland Park, KS to follow my dreams….I was crowned Ms. Kansas 2019. I competed in the United States Pageant. I didn’t win the US title, but I am proud to say that I was voted

Ms. Congeniality 2019.

What’s Cookin’ opened in Prairie Village, KS October, 2019. What’s Cookin’ is a place to come to learn how to cook. From pastry to pasta, knife skills to kneading bread, if you want to learn it, we can do it at our cooking school. I love working with Special Needs individuals, and have the privilege to teach classes with Blue Valley Special Olympics and Kansas Miss Amazing. What’s Cookin’ is for singles, friends couples or a girls’ night out…..or I can do it for you. I can make your Special Occasion Cake, Wedding Cake,

favorite dessert, Cater your event or be your

Private Chef for a meal.

It’s all about Making Memories in the Kitchen.
